Daniel Höhr, born in Troisdorf in 1973, has been touring the stages of smaller concert halls for three decades as a soloist, chamber musician, song accompanist and orchester musician. The pianist from Sankt Augustin began playing the piano at the age of eight. His teachers were Norbert Schmitz-Witter, Markus Grünter, Eleonora Sauer, Christa Hahn, Prof. Peter Florian (Osnabrück) and Gotthard Kladetzky (Cologne). The multiple winner of regional piano competitions gave his first solo recital in 1993 with, among others, Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition Bonn.
His programmes, often thematic, include not only works by his favourite composers Beethoven, Brahms and Schumann, but also rarely performed works, sometimes with unusual instrumentation. In 2009, for example, he participated in world premieres of works by Markus Grünter, in 2013 he played chamber music for harmonium and piano by Sigfrid Karg-Elert (1877 - 1933) together with Axel Wilberg, and in 2014 he performed the rarely heard piano cycle Das Jahr by Fanny Hensel (1805 - 1847). On 11 December 2021, he performed Erik Satie's Vexations in Sankt Augustin in a sixteen-hour solo performance as a fundraising event in aid of the sea rescue organisation United4Rescue. His album Innocence & Experience with piano music by Schumann and Brahms was released in 2021 on his own label serioso and was praised by the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger as a "polished, convincing debut".
