I lost my mind for New York City when I was 7 yo. I would re-watch VHS of Home Alone 2.. at least two times a day, in my small city in Siberia it was rare to have VHS player but mom managed to buy it somehow..

I was fascinated with the city, almost as I remembered my past lives there. By the age of 17, I was so desperate that I would be browsing web for images of NYC and just walk in my imagination. I think Youtube was not even around yet.

When I turned 19 yo, I got a one-way ticket to New York and left Siberia with $750 in my pocket. For 2 years prior to that I was saving money for visa and stuff.

I didn't know a single soul in America, zero English, no place to stay, no job, just a dream and complete trust in myself and in the unknown. I think it is still the craziest thing I've done in my life... and the best decision I ever made.
