Singer/songwriter Danny Chilean started getting involved in the local music scene after winning a radio contest at the northern Chilean city of Antofagasta, moving to Santiago in 1961 to participate in a famous radio show hosted by Ricardo García. Soon after, he signed up to RCA, recording in Spanish while many local rock performers were singing in English. After the release of his debut album, called ¿Cuál de Ellas?, the artist was voted the most popular Chilean singer by well-known radio shows Discomania and Radiomania; he was also awarded by an entertainment magazine called Ecran. In 1962, Danny Chilean was invited to participate in the Argentinean TV show Escala Musical, and he later toured all over the country. During the following years, the singer moved from RCA to Philips and later to local labels Caracol and Sol de America. During the 1990s, Danny Chilean dedicated precious time to learn new recording technologies, building his own studio to make his records, starting with Guitarra En Mano and a compilation called Hoy Como Ayer. ~ Drago Bonacich, Rovi
