Born Daniel Ramos Escobedo in 1950, Danny's journey in music commenced at the tender age of ten with a Roy Rogers guitar, a gift from his father, Master Sergeant Guadalupe Salomon Escobedo. The gift was a humble beginning that blossomed into a lifelong pursuit for Danny. Escobedo's evolution as a musician was marked by his transition to a Silver Tone guitar (notable for its built-in amp) and when he started the Danny & the Dreamers in 1963 at the age of 13yrs old while attending Irving Middle School on the west side of San Antonio.
In 1964, Danny & the Dreamers' musical prowess was affirmed when they won the Battle of the Bands at the Joe Freeman Coliseum. This achievement led them to open for the Rolling Stones. Around this time, Danny started showcasing talent as a songwriter, so Danny's father founded and funded the Dreamer label for the boys to record. The Dreamer label produced three singles, including Baby, Something's Wrong / (I Couldn’t) Come Back To You. The band went on to record multiple singles for a variety of label including Huey Meaux's Teardrop label that featured Danny on lead vocals covering the Four Tops' "Ask The Lonely" and Curtis Mayfield's "Think Nothing About It."
A chance coincidence with Bobby Fraga led Danny to join the Royal Jesters as a bassist. In the 1970s, Danny's versatility continued to shine when he joined Trinity, an outsider rock outfit led by keyboardist Richard Hall, further establishing Escobedo's multifaceted musical identity.
