Darby Loves You is a Canadian folk rock band formed in Kingston, Ontario. The band’s early demos were first heard at a university house on Albert Street. Inspiration was not hard to come by – the band lived a few blocks from Rob Baker of The Tragically Hip and spent most of their nights listening to The Beatles, Arkells, and The Lumineers.
The band started writing songs in a small music room at Harrison-LeCaine Hall at Queen’s University. It was here that the Darby Loves You sound was established. Their self-titled debut EP (released in 2017) was written on an old upright piano and an acoustic guitar, and recorded at Revolution Recording in Toronto, ON.
Since the release of their debut EP, Darby Loves You has played at some of the most storied venues in Toronto, including the Painted Lady and Supermarket. The band also collaborated with musicians from the Scott Helman band on their live off the floor song “Something’s Wrong,” recorded at Dreamhouse Studios in Toronto, ON (released in 2018).
In 2021, they released their first full-length album called “Rita Lee.” The band followed this up with the release of the “Tired Eyes” EP, a collaboration with Robinson Kirby.
Darby Loves You released their final project in 2022, an album called “Back Home.”
