Formed by lifelong friends Nathan Miller (vocals, keys) and Dustin Aguilar (guitar) when they were in college at the University of North Texas in Denton in the 2000's, Darcy was a showcase for their songwriting. As English majors they devoted themselves to making sure their lyrics were interesting and beautiful. Also a music major, Nathan met and recruited fellow singers Gunnar Johnson (guitar), Chase Johnson (drums), and Andrew McKinney (bass), and soon Darcy was a band that could sing in three- or even four-part harmony, as showcased in Romeo & Juliet (Postmodern Alternate Ending) and Today On the Town Square (If Only You Knew). Nathan and Dustin's most successful songwriting collaboration in their early years was the half-ironic Catchy Melody, a song about the need to write a catchy song. Darcy has mostly been inactive since the release of The Fall of the Economy (which heavily features Chase Johnson as a lead vocalist), as the members busy themselves with other projects.
