Dark Lambency – the melodic prog metal quartet from East Belgium stands for intensive music with emotion and power.
In 2007, Luca “Veikko” Johnen and Marcel Zapkey got into a local rock-project. Soon, the band name “Overnight” was born. They found a drummer and a bass player to complete the band, Jacky Dodémont and Jean Nyssen. They changed their name to Dark Lambency. The band’s musical style developed to melodic metal with progressive elements. Their sound style is all about contrasts between the dark distorted guitars, screams, growls, hunting drumbeats and the bright keyboards, clean vocals, choirs as well as orchestral parts. At first, DL played gigs in smaller venues, bars and middle sized halls throughout Europe. They also played on festivals in Belgium, with well-established headliners. In 2012, the band recorded their album “Frozen Art”. A Belgium tour followed in 2014 as well as some headliner concerts in Germany and Luxemburg. Marcel got vocal-lessons by Floor Jansen (Nightwish) in 2014. In 2015, the band played gigs in the Netherlands and a concert on a festival in France, with Crucified Barbara. They also played a concert as support for the symphonic metal legends Delain and later they played with an orchestra in Luxemburg. 2016-17, DL recorded their first full-length album “Spectra”. They signed a deal at the label 7hard and the booking agency Red Lion Music. Spectra was released in spring 2017. Until today, DL has played more than 100 gigs in 7 countries.
