Darkside Unleashed was started in 2010, based in Glasgow. A joint project between Al Twisted and Rob Da Rhythm, two friends, and for some time business partners running the famous Twisted & Brainfire parties. When the events partnership came to an end a label was born as a new joint project.
The label was the first Hardcore label to build a big name in terms of fan base and generate headline artists and number 1 hits after the vinyl era solely in a digital sales environment. The label, while priding itself on not being tied down to any style or BPM, was also (unintentionally) key in the development of the Uptempo Hardcore sound, which replaced Mainstream as the favoured sound of Hardcore’s youth, releasing the early EPs from the likes of F.Noize, Andy The Core and Lady Dammage, and often called ‘The first Uptempo label’.
The label now releases approximately every two or three weeks with a focus on the core artists signed to the label, but also frequently features guest tracks and EPs of worthy guests and demo submissions. In later times, the label has also released a number of sold out artist albums and compilations in CD format.
