Darling Norman formed in 2010 as David Drexler, Daniel DeCriscio, Dan Ra, and Derek Hensel. They frequented Atlanta's Earl, Star Bar, and Drunken Unicorn in playing many shows while recording and releasing 2 EPs over 2 years. 2013 brought a new EP, Contact, mixed by John Keene (REM, Widespread Panic) and the departure of Dan Ra and Derek. Cade Lewis was brought over from Jackson County Line to play bass and quickly reshaped the rhythm section of the band with his active playing and bird calling. Over the next few years recording and shows ensued that has led to their first full length Going for Nothing to be released in late October 2020. Recorded at home by David, mixed by Matt Goldman (Underoath) and mastered by Jason NeSmith (Fred Schneider, Magnapop) the record captures the varied Darling Norman sound that ranges from post-punk to power pop with Caribbean by way of Athens, GA flavors. The members of Darling Norman have way too many children to be rock stars so they will likely be content with sporadically recording and playing baby showers or hotel bars for the time being.
