Darrel Walls is one of the most buzzed about voices in gospel music. After years of Top Ten radio hits and multiple Grammy® Award nominations with his siblings as The Walls Group, Darrel is stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist. Grammy® Award winning R&B singer/producer and Maroon 5-member, PJ Morton, has produced Darrel’s debut solo album, Heart of Mine, for his New Orleans-based Gumbo Studios label in partnership with Tyscot Records. The sessions were birthed at Studio in the Country, the historic complex in rural Bogalusa, Louisiana where everyone from Stevie Wonder to Willie Nelson have recorded classic records.
The oldest of eight children, Darrel Walls was born in Houston, TX. He and three of his siblings Rhea, Alic and Ahjah) began singing as pre-teens and released their debut album in 2012. Their crisp harmonies caught the attention of gospel world with hits such as “Love on the Radio,” “And You Don’t Stop,” “Word,” “I Need You” and “Stand Still.”
Over the last decade, Walls has distinguished himself as a songwriter, vocal arranger and in-demand guest vocalist. He’s appeared on recordings by some of the biggest acts in music such as Frank Ocean and Brandy. His best-known collaborations have been his features on PJ Morton’s “So in Love” and the Grammy® Award nominated, “The Better Benediction.”
