Darren Hoff is an Americana singer and songwriter based out of Austin, TX who draws as much inspiration from Hank Williams, Sr. as he does Tom Petty. As a founding member of The Weary Boys, he followed his dreams sight unseen from Humboldt County, California to Austin, Texas at the turn of the century.
The band’s edgy blend of Country-Rock infused with Bluegrass quickly established them as a live performance powerhouse, packing the legendary Continental Club every Tuesday night for more than two years.
The Weary Boys took a break from touring and performing in 2007 with six records and well over a thousand shows under their belts.
In 2009 Darren Hoff along with his new band, The Hard Times, released an 11-song record; 10 of which he penned. After a few years of shows and opening for acts as diverse as Reckless Kelly and Soul Asylum, among others, Darren hung up The Hard Times.
In the decade or so since then, Hoff has been honing his songwriting skills, and was selected by Steve Earle to receive a scholarship to his Camp Copperhead songwriting retreat twice. With time, Hoff’s writing sparked his desire to return to performing more frequently, leading him to embark on a new project with the resurrected Hard Times moniker.
Hoff is releasing a handful of singles, culminating in a full length release in 2025, and hitting the stage solo and fronting the Hard Times.
