Dave “D.J.” Bingham is a Canadian Singer-Songwriter, notable for co-founding and leading
“The Ugly Ducklings” from the late '60s to 2004. His Bands were, The Ugly Ducklings, 1965 – 2004, Papa Grey, 1971, Crackerjack Blues Band, 1990, Sleight of Hand, 1991, Bingham, Bertok & Hovercraft', '93 – '97, The Lost Chords-2014, DJ Bingham & Norm McMullen-2016 , Continental Blues Band-2018, & 'MAGIC TOWN'-2021-'24. As a singer, guitarist or harmonica player, he has also recorded with, The Cameo Blues Band, Loose Change, Cris Cuddy & The Rockin’ Deltoids, Scott Cushnie & Doug Riley, & Lance Anderson, Ken Basman, Gil Gutierrez and Doug Robinson. He has been the lead singer and songwriter in all of the bands that he fronted.
The first album he recorded with his pivotal band The Ugly Ducklings, ‘Somewhere Outside’, was voted No. 72 in “The Top 100 Canadian Albums” of all time, for the book of the same name, and his first single, ‘Nothin’, which debuted the night 'The Ugly Ducklings’ opened for The Rolling Stones, was voted No.33 in “The Top 100 Canadian Singles”, of all time, for the book of the same name.
‘Gaslight’, the last single The Ugly Ducklings released before the dissolution of their original line-up, reached Number 1 on CHUM Radio in Toronto, in October 1967, pushing The Rolling Stones out of the #1 spot. It remained in the top 40 on CHUM Radio for a total of 13 weeks, a milestone for a Canadian 60s band.
