Jazz pianist David Morgan was born and raised in San Francisco, studying music at Cal State Northridge before transferring to the University of New Orleans; the first graduate of UNO's new Jazz Studies program, his tutors there included jazz legends Ellis Marsalis, Harold Battiste and Victor Goines. Upon graduating Morgan landed in New York, where in 1996 he recorded his debut LP Comment. With bassist Sean Drabitt and drummer Jason Marsalis, he resurfaced in 1998 with Hands of Time; Live at the Blue Note followed a year later. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi
