Dutch musician David Rooker debuted in 2023 at age 19 with the EP ‘Exodus’ and single ‘Magnolia Dream’, an ardent piano lullaby frequently played on several Dutch national radio stations that summer and being audience-voted to the number one spot of hitparade the Verrukkelijke 15 for three weeks. Second EP ‘Blue Octavo’ from 2024 further deepened the authentic sound of the idiosyncratic songwriter with the singular, over four-octave ranging voice and again resulted in success, with Rooker being interviewed by Dutch national newspaper De Telegraaf and single ‘The Sound’ receiving airplay on NPO 3FM and NPO Radio 2. After a short hiatus, Rooker is gearing up for debut album ‘Magnolia Dream’ preceded by single ‘Even Angels Lose Their Wings’ – coming this November. Set for release in april 2026 on Belgian label Home Records, the album displays a sonic journey of thirteen atmospheric, melancholic and intensely passionate works of music – fully recorded by Rooker himself in his own bedroom and drawing from influences as wide as Soundgarden, Billie Holiday and Nick Drake. Even though not a concept album, the themes of ‘Magnolia Dream’’s songs all revolve around desire, limerence and lust – also incorporating religious and mythological references.
