David Spitzfaden grew up in San Diego County and, at an early age, had a deep connection to music and the arts.
Throughout his adolescence, he tried a large number of artistic pursuits, including dance, theatre, and choir.
It wasn't until he heard Pink Floyd, and particularly David Gilmour’s transcendent guitar playing, at the age of 15, that he started to discover what he was on this earth to do.
He started writing music at 17, and made a point to constantly explore new sounds while drawing from his major musical inspirations. Michael Jackson, Kenny Loggins, Pink Floyd, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Mac Miller, John Mayer, D’Angelo, Kendrick Lamar, Mk.Gee, RadioHead, Sabrina Carpenter, Yebba, Jeff Buckley, and many more, all have influence over David’s sound. But with all those inspirations, he likes to embrace the idea that he sounds undoubtedly like himself. His songs, including currently, “Cracked the Code”, have been nominated for San Diego Music Awards.
You can find David, and his band, playing all over Southern California and the whole West Coast, performing at universities, popular venues, restaurants, food courts and private events.
David’s work as a session and live guitar player has also taken him on many journeys, like getting to play all over the U.S. and all around the world in such countries as: Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, China, and Canada. You can hear him playing guitar on Lizzo’s cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Someday at Christmas.”
