Started in 2007 by Aaron Cloutier, Davola is currently a solo project that in a nutshell, is one musician's take on extreme metal from a composer's perspective. Building on what has been done in the past and pushing the boundaries to create something that hopefully is considered original yet familiar. The end result being that of a fan simply creating the music that he wants to hear. Drawing upon many influences from the likes of Strapping Young Lad, Lamb of God, Mastodon and Meshuggah as well as featuring more subtlety placed elements from more avant-garde acts such as John Zorn, Ephel Duath and Secret Chiefs 3, the 2009 debut “Dichotomy” was an exercise in both extremity and musicality with a strong emphasis on song structure and composition. Taking all of the aforementioned contrasting influences to create heavy anthemic styled music.
