Dayan is a Brooklyn-based Latino-American band that mixes Argentinian and Peruvian folkloric sounds with cinematic textures. Singer-songwriter Laura Dayan and the producer Darko Saric created the band in 2013, with the drummer Mike Dawson. In support of its first album, Mezcla Magica (Magic blend), Dayan shared the stage with top Spanish artists Jarabe de Palo and La Mala Rodriguez at New York City’s premier venues Highline Ballroom or SOB’s.
Dayan’s latest album, Crecer Lejos (Grow Up Far Away), was release on February 2019. On these tracks, the band explores a feeling that connects millions of immigrants in New York city: the distressing emotions we go through when we leave our home countries in the pursuit of betterment and how with the years we come to understand that those emotions will never leave and, in fact, will mature alongside us.
