After many years both playing guitar in metal bands and creating electronic music as a solo artist (including chiptune soundtracks for indie video games), I decided to fuse my musical efforts under one single moniker, de La Rocque – which is also my middle name.
At this point, I’m still not sure if there is a name or a style that actually encompasses what I’m doing here. Surely, it is electronic music because it relies on electronic sounds, devices, and software – not to mention the strong synthwave/darksynth vibe it features overall. It is also very reminiscent of metal, after all, that’s where I come from. Still, I’ve been adding Miami Bass, Slum Funk, American Funk, Bossa Nova, and neoclassical influences to the mix. At the end of the day, I believe I’m creating a slightly new breed of urban music that resonates not only with Brazilian audiences, but with creative individuals from many different backgrounds.
