Derrick B. Harden, professionally known as Dear Derrick, was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. From a young age, Derrick developed a deep passion for music and the arts, inspired by the rhythms and wordplay of hip-hop culture. He was drawn to storytelling and lyricism, seeing music as a powerful tool for both self-expression and social commentary. His influences range from legendary figures in hip-hop like Tupac Shakur, Nas, and Jay-Z, to soulful artists such as Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. In addition to his love for music, Derrick was also interested in acting. He pursued both passions throughout his early life, participating in school plays and local theater productions while also writing and recording his own music. Derick currently stars and co-directed the film "The Black Sea" which has garnished rave reviews from SXSW , The Seattle Film Festival and many others. He balanced his time between the studio and acting auditions, setting the foundation for a multifaceted career in the entertainment industry.
