In 2012, lead guitarist Arthur Francis Piccio got an invite from coworker and fellow songwriter Borjie Pontejos to form a band, creating the musical unit that is to be known as Death by Elephant.
The band underwent several transformations before 2017, when it became a solo project led by Arthur Piccio, who handled all the recording and production of what would become the first album, the EP 21st Century Sarabande, and the sophomore album This Album Should Be Played Loud.
