Nashville based singer-songwriter and instrumentalist Death Comesto Matteson
realized years ago that joy is most vivid when it's authentically earned. It's this
ethos that has set the foundations for his narrative-first, guitar-rooted approach to
music making. Throughout his career Peter, the namesake of Death Comesto
Matteson, has played with more than 200 other musicians, toured with Ben Nichols
of Lucero, Cory Branan, and Tim Barry of Avail and released his full-length album
'Ship of Fools, or Ship on Fire' on Speak Music Media in 2007.
Hailing from Denton, Texas, Death Comesto Matteson was brought up in a devout
Christian household surrounded by the sounds of Classical music. When he moved
to Nashville in 1996, Death Comesto Matteson was tipped to become the next big
thing in Christian music. However, writing about a fictitious world free from pain
and doubt that would be unrecognizable to God was not a life that he was intent on
pursuing. Instead, he chooses to write to express the esoteric, and to fill the grey
area that words alone could never satisfy. Above all, he has embarked on a mission
to bring awareness to the fact that pain is never in vain. Death Comesto Matteson
makes music to break the numbness that has taken over so many lives. If you can
feel pain, you can find joy. Themes of failure, human imperfection and reformation
are brought to life by the beauty of instrumentation, carefully crafted lyrics, and
multitudes of talent.
