Deathgrip formed in 2015 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The band originally intended to write and play hardcore but the sound slowly changed into a more d-beat style. Around this point the original vocalist Corin parted ways with the band and whilst bassist Jonny tried to cover vocals too, Darseaux was drafted in to replace him as lead vocalist. The band's sound now changed once more into what you hear now with call and response vocals and the pace of the songs steadily increasing - play fast or don't. The band released their first demo on tape in October 2016, which was recorded and mixed by Buck Defect in Doghouse studios. Traction started to pick up and more material was being writtten with an EP release planned for the end of 2017. Life got in the way and the band kept writing and gigging but were having difficulty with bassist Jonny working out of the country for a while. After what seemed like forever the EP was finally recorded by Jamie Wilson in JamLive Studios in 2019. The mixing was done by Jamie and then sent for mastering by Marty Martin. The band got the tracks back and decided to get pressing. After a series of considerable delays for various reasons the band finally received their long awaited self-titled EP in May 2020.The band were due to record an album of even faster, dirtier hardcore punk in March but due to Coronavirus, this has been put on hold.Band lineup:Vocals: DarseauxVocals/bass: JonnyVocals/guitar: DarylGuitar: MattDrums: Johnny
