Although formed as far back as 1983, Britain''s Deathwish were considered relative latecomers to the '80s thrash metal party by the time their debut, At the Edge of Damnation, gained release through the independent Metalworks label, in 1987. Comprised of imaginatively named Jon Van Doom (vocals), Dave Deathwish (guitar), Stuart Ranger (bass), and Brad Sims (drums), the group was back the very next year with their Demon Preacher EP, but both it and its predecessors' contents ultimately proved simply too generic to distinguish them from their peers.
