Déception, a non-binary duo, based in Tio'tia:ke (Montreal), tackle multiple topics in their catchy, beat-drive, dark synth pop songs. From the uncanny, to the classics of lost love and heart break, the duo do this all with the inspirations of eerie music and the love of 80s cult classics.
Déception started as an idea but became a band during a summer of many beers and sloppy band practices. Their first EP (a collection of 5 songs) is is scentered around naïvety and became the kickstarter for their direction of sound, at least for now. Their compilations album “Summer Complaints (Compilation of Bad Decisions)” is quite literally a couple songs that didn’t make the cut/ were suppose to be a future album. "Retour De La Nuit", their most recent release, has been a long time in the making. Déception re imagines their first EP, "Une Autre Nuit", by mixing their naïve song writing with more mature instrumentals and compositions, and just a generally more mature mindset. With the opportunities of playing live, the band wanted to continue playing their old songs but in a newer light. As their style evolved, they slowly changed the instrumentals of these old songs to match their darker compositions; a new story line. This LP marks a new chapter for the band and the closing of another.
Thanks for joining us for the ride! We’re happy to have you along.
Love, Déception xoxo
