Formed in the late 90’s, in Houston, Texas, by guitarist Erick Stegall, bassist Nico Guerrero, drummer Jeremy Easter and vocalist Chris Clayton, Decybel set out to change the landscape of the local music scene. Starting off by playing private parties and having open practices with friends and family as their only audience, the band only had a handful of original songs while filling the rest of their sets with covers to appease the masses. Once the band began gaining some real attention, they decided to go all in. This direction came with a change in drums which lead to Jeremy Easter exiting the band and his little brother, Eric Easter, picking up where Jeremy left off. With all the final pieces in place, Decybel began an upward trajectory by writing more complex music filled with odd time signatures and raw powerful emotion. As the music grew, so did the crowds. Decybel quickly became one of the biggest draws in the Houston music scene, while playing and packing the biggest venues that the city had to offer. They were able to sustain their popularity and relevance for the next 5 years, until some internal struggles caused them to reach the decision to put the band in hiatus temporarily. This inadvertently lasted 17 years. Now back together in 2025, Decybel is re-recording and re-releasing their original songs. They will begin working on new music once their long overdue album, Ripple Effect is released later this year.
