As the leader of South Korean boy band <a href="spotify:artist:6nfDaffa50mKtEOwR8g4df">GOT7</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3IjHX8KZKoeq3X4QgXxqbT">Jay B</a> has contributed to the mainstream K-pop and Korean hip-hop sound that has dominated the market. Under the guise of Def. he produces a more underground take on the mainstream sound, releasing his debut EP, LOVE., in 2022.
As a key figure of the South Korean pop industry, <a href="spotify:artist:3IjHX8KZKoeq3X4QgXxqbT">Jay B</a> (aka Lim Jae-beom) has become synonymous with the glistening pop-production of the K-pop scene through his work with <a href="spotify:artist:6nfDaffa50mKtEOwR8g4df">GOT7</a> and with other groups including <a href="spotify:artist:0yvw5zYym2ZnM2vngHvfWW">JJ Project</a> and its sub-unit Jus2. Wanting to explore different territory, <a href="spotify:artist:3IjHX8KZKoeq3X4QgXxqbT">Jay B</a> started to record under the name Def., which allowed him to delve into a more experimental and alternative take on the K-pop sound. First using the name as part of the R&B crew <a href="spotify:artist:4D1yVc6ltwIZHxxNPBe552">ØFFSHORE</a>, which he formed with RoseInPeace, the group would go on to issue three EPs between 2019 and 2021.
