Derrik Jordan

Singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Derrik Jordan was raised in Short Hills, NJ, and had a musical epiphany when he first heard <a href="spotify:artist:3WrFJ7ztbogyGnTHbHJFl2">the Beatles</a> at age nine. He began taking guitar lessons and formed his first band at 13. By the age of 15 he was writing songs, and he soon added piano and violin to the list of instruments he played. He majored in music at Bennington College, and fell in love with Vermont, where he eventually settled. But he lived in New York City for three years, during which time he played in bands and became a successful writer of commercial jingles. As a session musician and producer, he worked on albums by <a href="spotify:artist:5MHSgzpt7607DgUgvOTlLd">Will Ackerman</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:2uPf6ZeR3qIufYYxvgGaq2">Lisa McCormick</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7L3Vc9VoXKKEgxAjjFrhg2">Lisa Sokolov</a>, Tom Neilson, Natural History, Simba, Gary Rosen, King Happy, and Red Thunder Cloud. His songs have been recorded by <a href="spotify:artist:1EVcW86vp7BEIoBXBt4btr">the Stockwell Brothers</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:07CTbCcLVHYwZqp1YMdf4t">Angela Bofill</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3HGlrOd3BwXcVmieNZEqVv">the Embers</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3UGZh0dNyawtfTuETNOni8">O.C. Smith</a>, Lisa Molina, and Urban Speech. Jordan released his first solo album, Expecting a Miracle, on Orchard Records in March 2000. He then made an instrumental album, Superstring Theory -- Exotic Duets and Improvisations.
