Born in Faro, Portugal, in 1982.
Studied music most of his life, since he was 6. Classical studies at the conservatories of Faro and Setúbal. Jazz studies in the Hot Club school (Lisboa) and Jazz Saxophone degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Music Education degree in Escola Superior de Educação de Setúbal. He´s currently attending a Master degree in Jazz Performance in Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa and participated in several workshops with, among others, David Binney, John Clayton, John Taylor, Peter Bernstein, Joe Lovano, Greg Tardy, Larry Goldings, Chris Potter, etc.
Played hundreds of concerts (classical, jazz, funk, salsa, live acts, musicals, etc.) with all sorts of ensembles in Portugal and abroad (Spain, Greece, Belgium, Germany, Holland, Italy and Austria). Studied with Paulo Gaspar, Pedro Moreira, Ferdinand Povel, Jasper Blom, Dick Oatts, among others.
Desidério Lázaro leads his own quartet which will bring us "Oblivion" in 2022. Other records by the saxophonist: "Rotina Impermanente". Desidério has played with a big share of the jazz musicians in Portugal (Maria João, Mário Laginha, Carlos Barreto, Júlio Resende, Afonso Pais, André Fernandes, Alexandre Frazão, among others). Besides being an active musician he also teaches in Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa and Universidade Lusíada.
