Minnesota’s Destiny Roberts aka ‘Dezzy Raww’ offers a breath of fresh air from the cookie-cutter Hip Hop doing its rounds on the radio. Lyrical layers laced with intricacy and harmonically rich instrumentals form the bedrock of Destiny’s cerebral sound, while she pivots around themes of entrepreneurship, mindset, overcoming adversities and more.
Often compared to a modern day Lauren Hill, Dezzy Raww’s music is not without a healthy dose of inspiration from the likes of Andre 3000, Pharell and Missy Elliott to name just a few. Influences aside, she has been intent on carving out her own path since the age of 10. Growing up in a musical family expedited this process, and today, she sets off to use music as her vessel to express from within, spreading positive messages embedded deep within her spirit.
Dezzy is currently sitting on a slew of consistently successful singles, a full-length album, and a colorful array of EPs. Notably, her ‘Roy G. Biv Tape Series’ saw her release a 7-part EP that dropped throughout 2019, each named after a color of the rainbow. Other achievements include a Netflix placement in 2019 for her single ‘The Jungle’, a H&M in-store Spotify placement feature for her single ‘Bounce Back’, and a Spotify placement in ‘What’s Good’ playlist. She has also opened for artists Goldlink and Toni Romiti.
