Detektimen is a foursome based in the village of Kvernaland in south-western Norway. Band members are Knut Inge Årtun (vocals), Henriette Hestvaag (vocals), Øyvind Lende (bass and other instruments, producer) and Svein F Hestvaag (songwriter).
Having recorded and performed together in different bands since 1994, Knut Inge and Svein met Øyvind in 2007, after having decided to sing in Norwegian and form a new band, Detektimen (the name is short for a Norwegian tv programme, meaning "detective hour").
After playing live with several line-ups for more than a decade, they dropped the idea of performing on stage and got together in Øyvind’s studio Galneriet in late 2018 to start recording tracks. The first songs were new versions of their earlier works, but charged with optimism, Detektimen has continued writing and recording new material. Their latest single, "Gje meg ei pille", was released in November 2020. A new single, "Cowboy uten hest", will be released in late November 2021.
