Kelvin Mensah, known as Dettybrown, is a 21-year-old artist from Dansoman, Accra, making music at the intersection of Afro-fusion, Highlife and alternative sounds.

His journey started back in SHS, where music was mostly freestyles with friends and something to do around people who were also creating. Over time, those moments turned into something more serious.

Dettybrown’s music comes from the things he has experienced and the things he’s still figuring out. Love, betrayal, friendship, ambition and the desire to be free are at the center of his songs. He doesn’t try to make everything perfect. Instead, he leans into the rawness of being young, making mistakes, getting hurt, falling in love and still trying to find your way.

His song “Best Life” came from a difficult period in his life. At a time when he was struggling, he began to realize that everything he was doing was part of a bigger journey towards the life he wanted. That idea became the heart of the song.

He has also been part of RNDs, a close circle of young creatives and friends who shared music and ideas while growing together. His releases include “Heartbreak Song” with RNDs in 2025 and “Keep It Sexy” with RG Cypher and Khophie in 2026.

At his core, Dettybrown is a dreamy young guy trying to understand life through music. He makes music for young people who are still becoming themselves, and his message is simple: freedom.
