I wrote <a href="spotify:track:1oiCy6seDLNocVI8xmM73q" data-name="Appalachian Tide">Appalachian Tide</a> in light of the devastating floods in Appalachia in August 2022. Each verse is a true story that I heard while working in flood recovery in Whitesburg. It’s a song of both mourning and hope for an area plagued by poverty and constant stigmatization, and is a celebration of the grit and toughness of the folks who live in the 606.
