Born in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, Sphosethu Madibi, known professionally as Dibson, was surrounded by rhythm from the very beginning. At just three years old, his father bought him his first drum set, sparking a curiosity that quickly grew into passion. By the time he reached Grade 1, he had already mastered the marimbas, and at ten years old, he expanded his craft by learning piano and joining choirs. That same year, he began performing with his church band and other groups, experiences that shaped him into a confident and versatile musician.

Over the years, Dibson has built a sound defined by versatility and heart. Gospel and soul remain close to his foundation, but his love for Afrobeats, Amapiano, Gqom, Afrotech, Three Step and R&B reflects his ability to adapt and experiment across genres. This flexibility has made him more than just a musician, he is a storyteller, a performer, and a creator with a vision to heal, inspire, and entertain through his music.

What started as making beats in his bedroom grew into something greater once he found the confidence to share his voice with the world. His music blends the warmth of gospel roots, the groove of African rhythms, and the emotion of soulful melodies into an expression that is uniquely his own.
