Dick Holler

What do Ray Charles, Whitney Houston, Cher, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, Harry Belafonte, Wilson Pickett, The Bellamy Brothers and Bob Dylan all have in common? They have all recorded songs written by Dick Holler. Collectively, Dick's compositions have sold over 35 million records. 

Dick Holler’s 1968 multi-million selling classic ‘Abraham, Martin and John’ poignantly expressed the sadness of a nation amidst the political strife and turmoil during the 1960's. In 2017 the song received a BMI Award for surpassing 5 million broadcast performances.

 ‘Snoopy vs. The Red Baron’ was the surprise smash hit of 1966 selling over 3 million records - only the Beatles 'Nowhere Man' and 'Paperback Writer' entered the charts at a higher position. In 2019 the song was featured in Quentin Tarantino’s Academy Award winning film, 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.' 

In 1963 'Dick Holler and The Holidays' recorded the original version of the classic 'Double Shot Of My Baby's Love' (written by Cyril Vetter and Don Smith) at Cosimo Matassa's J&M Recording Studios in New Orleans. Because of his work recording & performing with Rock legends such as Johnny Rivers, Jimmy Clanton, Dr. John, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, – Dick was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2007.

Dick owns many of his master recordings and releases them through his record label 'Holler Music Group.' His publishing company, 'Stonehenge Music', is owned by his two sons Reno and David Holler. The beat goes on.
