Dillon Vorster was born in Pretoria on September 22, 1994, but moved to Upington with his family when
he was four years old. He was introduced to the joys of singing and performance at the age of eight.By the time he was 15 years old he
knew that singing was to be his livelihood and he started working towards a professional career. He joined
the Philip Kotze Vocal Studio in 2011 in order to improve his technique and gain valuable experience and
performance opportunities. He quickly proved his talent and performed at the Sand du Plessis Theatre in
Bloemfontein as one of the studio’s top 12 students in both 2012 and 2013.
His performance was broadcast on
KykNet, a local South African TV channel.
Having won the “Upington’s Got Talent” competition in 2012, Dillon was invited to serve on the
adjudicators’ panel of this competition in 2014. He broadened his horizons during this year by entering the
South African Championships of Performing Arts and returned with two gold, three silver and one
bronze medal. He proceeded to represent South Africa at the World Championships of Performing
Arts in Los Angeles, USA, in July 2014, where he attained one gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
He also received an Entertainment Industry Award and was appointed the Senior Overall Winner:
Vocal Gospel. His achievements at these championships reflect his versatility as an artist, as they were
attained in styles as diverse as Gospel, Country, Latin and Pop music.
