Dimitri De Alencar, the self proclaimed king of Spacesurf, started his career playing guitar in bands in his hometown, soon starting to write and sing his own songs and release them on SoundCloud as early as 2013.
During those early times, his songwriting has spanned across a plethora of genres, such as surf rock, hard rock, rhythm and blues, ambient and electronic instrumental music, and even flamenco (“Jambo”, which established Dimitri as a Spanish guitar virtuoso) and latin jazz.
Since 2018, his interest shifted to vintage and retro electronic music, helping to found and shape an electronic experimental genre called spacesurf, drawing influences from late 70s electronic artists and modern synthwave music and influencing many newer artists.
Always a musical shapeshifter, he sometimes surprises his fans with albums such as Cold Reality, a nod to 80s synth pop and goth music, or a return to eerie ambient music with a release with all titles in Sumerian, Zalag.
Dimitri’s eerie/dark ambient releases made his music very popular with the tabletop RPG community, where many of his darker works are frequently used as ambience in RPG sessions and even featured in fandom and actual play podcasts.
