Born in St. Vincent and raised in Ottawa’s east end, he discovered his love for rap at a young age, using music as both a creative outlet and a platform for storytelling.

His professional career took off in 2018, quickly establishing himself as one of the city’s top artists. Working alongside Ottawa’s best producers and engineers, he crafted an impressive catalog, including his debut album Blackout and the collaborative project The Purge. His raw talent and work ethic set him apart, earning him recognition as the #1 rapper in Ottawa by Shifter Magazine and securing his place on numerous “Top 50 Rappers” lists.

Never one to slow down, Dip Black launched Free Smoke Friday, a freestyle series that showcased his ability to deliver sharp, intricate bars in under a minute. His music spoke for itself—gritty, real, and always pushing boundaries.

At just 32, Dip Black’s passing is a heartbreaking loss to the hip-hop community and all who knew him. His energy, loyalty, and kindness left a lasting impact, and his music will continue to inspire. Though he may be gone, his voice and vision will live on forever.
