I had a friend named Dean that always told me I should put lyrics with my guitar licks that I showed him. I always told him that I am not a singer. Dean loved bluegrass music. I was more of a Rock/Country/Blues guy. He went to bluegrass festivals all the time. Many times he would talk about old country and bluegrass music. There was never a time that he did not have a joke or bring joy to someone through his music as he was a singer and a heck of a guitar picker. Well Dean eventually was diagnosed with brain cancer. Probably 2 weeks before he died I wrote an instrumental song that I played for him at his house. He said Joe that's a great song and asked if I had words with that song. I said no I do not. He said well you should because its a great song. After Dean passed it was at his funeral that it hit me hard. I knew I needed to go buy a banjo as I had always wanted to play one and of course its a bluegrass instrument that reminds me of him. I started writing songs with lyrics. One of the first songs I wrote with lyrics was on the banjo I purchased in remembrance of my friend. I will release it soon as it is spiritual in nature. I put my music on YouTube and people kept encouraging me. I came out of my shell and here I am now on Spotify. I've started a band even. I play gigs now. Who knows where this life will take me. What I do know is that a part of my friend lives in me now and I will be forever grateful to him. I hope everyone enjoys what I offer.
