Formed in Newcastle in 2024 as a project amongst friends; Dominic Lang, Alex Brownbridge, Joe Currey and Felix Standen; Dish, Texas are a product of the post-punk revival that plucks from rock and folk influences. The result is a style of music that blends the grittiness of modern indie rock with twangy homemade bedroom-pop influences, reminiscent of artists like Silver Jews, MJ Lendermann and early Wilco. Their sound is naïve and deliberately unpolished, featuring fuzzy guitars, laid-back vocals, and wry, observational lyrics that explore thematic elements such as that of nostalgia, love, and self-reflection, with a mix of dry, even sarcastic, humour and a profound sense of melancholy. An intimate and sombre sound, their music is characterised by raw analogue instrumentation and deeply personal, diary-like lyrics, which draw further comparisons to Alex G, Mount Eerie, and early Microphones. Songs like these carry a sense of longing, loneliness, and an understated beauty, making them feel both deeply personal and universally relatable.
