DistantStarr has over 20 years of music experience and it began with his family introducing him to music. His uncle scored big time productions like Eddie Murphy’s “Raw”, his mother always played RnB & Old Soul and his father played a lot of hip-hop. While all this is happening Distant is studying on his own as well, listening to more “obscure” hip-hop music like A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Madlib and others. When you combine all of this together, it’s easy to see that DistantStarr was destined to make music and art from the jump. Fast forward to middle school and Distant joined Jazz Band playing the Alto Saxophone and would then transition into creating rap music. A friend actually gave him his artist name, “A friend gave me the name DistantStarr because I was always “spaced out” in my own world.” Distant recalls. “Starr because I never wanted to be a star but my friends felt I was close.”
