Hey, I’m Vinnie. I started making music as DIVEBAR YOUTH not too long ago.
My grandfather only knew two chords on guitar, but every time I saw him, he’d show me them again and again. He’d sing songs about his life, in this kind of Johnny Cash delivery, but imagine it written by someone just trying to get by in the south of Italy. That music sparked something in me.
Later, my friends introduced me to indie and rock. We were more than a decade late, but we just wanted to be playing songs like Someday or Mardy Bum. I think that’s what led me to start my first terribly named band in high school.
Anyway, next thing you know, I was locked indoors and having an existential crisis like everyone else. I didn’t know how I was going to afford to make music, I just knew I couldn’t stop. I looked at all my GarageBand demos I’d been too shy to release and made the call: get over myself and share everything. Go all in.
Thinking about what got me to that point, I couldn’t shake the memories of those late nights in run-down dive bars, watching bands with people I love, while my boots stuck to the floor. That feeling is what made me want to start DIVEBAR YOUTH.
A few years later, I’ve played shows around the world and released songs I’m genuinely proud of. These songs have let me get out things I could never say. It’s special to have reached you, so thanks for being here. Let’s see where this goes.
