Dj Nort

The story of how and why Dj Nort coalesced is fairly straightforward. For Nort’s entire life, family parties centered around friends and family playing music and dancing and sharing the good times. Nort himself is a drummer, and plays around the towns of NKY and Cincinnati.

Around the age of 15, Nort grew tired of the pop and teenage music that most kids enjoy. That lead to the discovery of bands like Phish and Moe. Entering this party scene and meeting new friends, the introduction to electronic music occurred naturally.

Nort, however, did not like electronic “computer” music at first. Even thought it to be degrading to the art of music in general. That was until Discover Weekly threw Nort “Soul Spiral” by Durante.

Thanks to this, Nort realized that electronic music was indeed intelligible to even an instrumental die-hard. Combined with Cincinnati Bengals watch parties where electronic pump-up music became a way to pass commercial breaks, the interest in creating music that was somewhat Chalk Dinosaur-ish, somewhat Durante-ish, but rooted in jam/instrumental music presented a worthy challenge to create computer music of Norts derision.

Thus brings us to now. Nort is no expert in Logic and does not pretend to be even close to the level that his influences are on. However, he hopes that you find enjoyment in the amateurish, feel good attempt that is Dj Nort.
