Former Wiseguys mastermind DJ Touche was a major force in the big beat scene, pioneering the emerging genre through his production work for most of the mid- to late '90s. After establishing himself as a headlining DJ as well, Touche gave up on recording others and began a strenuous tour of famous clubs to work out the kinks in his live show. Growing a reputation as a creative and innovative mixer of songs, he decided he wanted to capture the emotions and introspection that a lengthy night of dancing can provide listeners on record. Working on a mix disc that would be more than just a collection of tracks, DJ Touche dove headfirst into his mission and emerged with Ultraviolet in 2002.
