As a composer, Djalma Ferreira had success with "Bicharada," "Cheiro de Zdaudade," "Recado," "Lamento," "Murmúrio," and "Devaneio" (the latter four with Luís Antônio), "Volta" (with Luís Bandeira), and "Nosso Samba." In 1938, he had one of his songs, "Longe Dos Olhos" (with Cristóvão de Alencar) by Francisco Alves and Sílvio Caldas, recorded for the first time. As a pianist, he worked in elegant places like the Hotel Quitandinha (Petrópolis) and the Cassino da Urca in the '40s. With his group Milionários do Ritmo (which included for some time the crooner Miltinho), recorded several albums in the '50s and '60s and performed internationally, touring Peru in 1946. Returning to Brazil, he worked with the group, which was very popular then, in nightclubs and animating dances. In 1963, he moved to the U.S. and settled in Hollywood, CA. ~ Alvaro Neder, Rovi
