DJÄSS is an Icelandic jazz trio founded in 2010. At first the main focus was doing jazz arrangement of old pop and punk songs and the first album, Songs From The Top Of The World (2011), included songs by Björk, Emiliana Torrini and Jonsi and more. We Ride Polar Bear (2015) continued down the same path but with added international songs like In a Manner Of Speaking and a couple of original tunes. The latest album, DJÄSS, is all original material written mostly by the pianist, Karl Olgeirsson who was awarded as the Jazz Composer of the year 2019 at the Icelandic Music Awards. Jon Rafnsson, bassist, has been performing internationally with his trio Guitar Islancio since the 90’s.
