DK Allen (Daniel Allen Kwiatkowski) is a Michigan-native singer-songwriter, composer, and one of the frontmen of longtime Brooklyn staple <a href="spotify:artist:0iV5KTbyKCeolPFgr44Wtx" data-name="The Hollows">The Hollows</a>. He is also the lead guitarist, banjo and harmonies for solo act <a href="spotify:artist:7Ce88AzJIAv74b4lYXY87X" data-name="Phil Pickens">Phil Pickens</a>, the banjoist and vocals for the blackgrass outfit <a href="spotify:artist:4RPwcymoug1Jxk8lZZDEPD" data-name="Blood & Banjos">Blood & Banjos</a> with his brother, and has begun singing as a duo under 'Annie & Danny' with vocalist and producing partner <a href="spotify:artist:1TwHOl6pxuvgLeOkDmF5EK" data-name="Annie McCain Engman">Annie McCain Engman</a>. In addition to writing in the genres of Folk, Americana, Country, Pop, Electronica and Rock 'n Roll, DK has also scored for theatre, film, and audiobooks.
He's collaborated most frequently with producers <a href="spotify:artist:6bR1p6V6AeVUIC5UNJSNAw" data-name="John Siket">John Siket</a> (Dave Matthews Band, Phish, Yo La Tengo, Sonic Youth, Fountains of Wayne) and <a href="spotify:artist:77J9ybpIBk2eYzgDXYxNDK" data-name="James Frazee">James Frazee</a> (Patti Smith, Sharon Van Etten, Ian Hunter, Esperanza Spalding, Loudon Wainwright III, Flea).
Aside from music, DK is a playwright, actor, voice actor and director, and has worked extensively as a set designer, carpenter and fabricator for most theatre and event spaces in New York, as well as internationally. In 2018, he was a visiting artist at Hope College, and the musical he devised, directed, designed and composed with theatre students in collaboration with fellow Hollows member Erik Saxvik won Best Devised Work at the Kennedy Center American Collegiate Theatre Festival.
