DLRN (pronounced “Da-lor-in”) is a rapper/songwriter with roots in the hyphy culture of early 2000s Sacramento and the Bay Area. Born in Atlanta and raised in Kansas City, KS, DLRN moved to Sacramento at age 12 and lived there during the peak of the Mac Dre era/hyphy movement (surrounded by sideshows, music, and Mac Dre in his G-Wagon).
After experiencing his house getting shot up, DLRN’s family pushed him to relocate to Tennessee for college, which he did briefly before dropping out and being drafted to the streets...but through his late teens and early twenties, making music became the side passion that fit his lifestyle. DLRN bought beat machines, wrote and recorded songs, and studied music theory and the charts to develop his craft. In 2012 he released his first mixtape featuring Casey Veggies (cofounder of Odd Future), and Kanye West-collaborator CyHi the Prynce.
DLRN is completing his debut EP, and recently finished a video for single “Trap Boomin.” He’s invested in his creative process, with music as his therapy--he uses music to process his real-life experiences and gives listeners the insight to process their own lives when they hear it. Despite his choice to focus on the streets more than the studio, the world will quickly recognize this artist’s insatiable creativity and talent, and his forthcoming major label project is sure to shine.
