Indie-pop and Psychedelic Rock just had an illegitimate love child. Born out of wedlock, Doko entered this world as a band trying to find their feet in a post lockout law Sydney. They have relentlessly gigged up and down the East Coast for the last 2 years building an enthusiastic following. From playing full capacity headline shows, opening for larger acts in huge rooms, the band has quickly become a force to be reckoned with.
Doko dropped their radio-unfriendly EP Dezmonia in 2017, a foray into psychedelic beach rock. The EP’s “care-free licks and crooning vocals” were met with an enthusiastic reception from fans, US college radio and local media, receiving an A+ rating from the Pilerats music blog.
Doko have spent the last two years writing and recording a handful of singles with ARIA award winning producer Steven Schram (San Cisco, I Know Leopard). During this time the band had built upon their sound, taking influence from the New Wave acts of the late 70s & 80s with a modern twist. These recording sessions produced a number of singles receiving support from Unearthed, community radio and racking up around 140k+ streams on Spotify alone. The band’s next offering, ‘Maybe Leave A Light On’ is their strongest. Disappointingly they had to cancel their national tour due to the covid-19 outbreak, this would have been their fourth Australian tour in 14 months, but the band are looking to spend some time in the studio to deliver the goods through the rest of 2020.
