Growing up trading cassette tape copies of hip hop albums had a profound effect on the sound that Dolenz, aka Neil Andrew purveys. His love for saturation and tape hiss is matched only by the faceless mystery of the artists that directed his sonic and visual persona from an early age.
As a Producer Dolenz first came into prominence with the release of his eight track EP Hysteresis on Sonic Router Records in 2015. Following that he released his ‘Evesdrop’ EP, 'Pull' EP, full-length ‘Lingua Franca’ and 'Golden Spike' EP on Exit Records.
In 2021 Dolenz has had a slew of releases with his 90s' throwback hip hop slap tape "Electric Fence' on Potent Funk Records featuring UK MCs Dabbla and Black Josh, followed by the raucous 'Danko' EP on 4NCurrency before making his return to Exit Records with his 'Kuntur' EP, enlisting artists Steve Spacek and Sonnyjim.
A keen radio host, upon moving back to London after living in the Middle East for nine years Dolenz hosted radio shows on NTS and Balamii before founding his monthly show on Subtle Radio, where he further explores the experimental world of beats and hip hop. Dolenz DJ sets are known to move seamlessly through genres and tempos, and this eclecticism has led to him being enlisted to provide mixes for Hyponik, Solid Steel, NTS, and Dazed to mention a few.
