Born in Washington Heights, Uptown Manhattan, music producer and songwriter Dominante is known for being a shapeshifter, his sounds heavily influenced and inspired by the different places he’s lived; New York City, Santo Domingo, and Miami.
His father, Carlos David, is a well-known 80s merengue singer. At the age of 11, Dominante was the lead vocalist of Grupo Kolao. In 2006, Dominante was part of the duo, DNA Produkshunz , and moved to Miami where he obtained a degree in Audio Engineering from the School of Audio Engineering. Dominante created Dominant Music Entertainment Inc., and with a with revived interest in the merengue-urbano genre compiled “The Mixtapes EP” with “Dámelo” as its first single.
In 2016, Dominante created “Motivo Oculto” with Kongreezy and found this sound to be more true to self. In the next few years Dominante took a behind the scenes approach, songwriting, producing and directing music videos. Now in 2022 unleashing a song every week until further due notice .
